Why does traffic back up for miles at the scene of an accident, even though the accident is in no blocking the flow, and then suddenly pick right back up immediately after passing the accident? Why doesn’t the nightly news show scenes of people volunteering at nursing homes?
The answer is negativity draws us in… like a black hole. Granted, some days a lot of bad things really can happen to us, but a lot of times it really is just our perception of how these things are happening, or our perception of how bad they really are.
Truly happy people are those that can see the good in every situation, and are patient and calm enough to wait out the things that seem so horrible at the time, but turn out to be a blessing later on.
Stress and Negativity have shown time and time again to be incredibly toxic to our health. They tear down our immune systems, and put unnecessary burdens on our bodies.
Positivity on the other hand, does just the opposite. Smiling and laughing are incredibly good for you, make you feel good, and are just plain fun! Try to at least outweigh negative feelings with positive feelings at a ratio of 5:1. Don’t get sucked in to feeling bad. Turn off the nightly “news” and pass by that accident without looking to see the “carnage”, it does absolutely no good for you, and in fact, quite the opposite.
